For most vending operators, modernising payment infrastructure is not a question of if, but when. The challenge is that these projects are often associated with installation complexity, machine downtime, and operational disruption.

In practice, however, MDB-compatible vending machines are usually far easier to modernise than operators expect.

KUARIO is designed to work with existing vending infrastructure wherever possible, helping operators introduce better payment capabilities without turning the process into a full fleet replacement project.

Works With Your Existing Machines

The KUARIO HybridPay Terminal (HPT25) is designed specifically for unattended environments, such as vending. Thanks to standard interfaces, there is no need to modify existing infrastructure.

In practice, this means the HPT25 can be added without major operational changes. The terminal fits the EVA Mini format, connects via MDB or API, and draws power directly from the machine. It also connects through LAN, WiFi, or integrated 4G, making it easy to integrate into your current setup.

The Onboarding Process

Physical installation can be completed in as little as five minutes. The process itself is simple: the machine is opened, the terminal is mounted and connected, and the machine is ready for use again.

Before going live and accepting payments, operators complete a standard onboarding process, including KYC (Know Your Customer). This involves providing basic business and bank details. Identity verification is a regulatory requirement to comply with AML-CTF regulations. Once onboarding is complete, payments can be securely processed and payouts made.

A Better View of Your Business

Once the terminal is installed, it’s time to configure the KUARIO Management Dashboard. This process connects the machines to the platform and enables payment processing.

Within the dashboard, machines are set up as outlets. From there, each device is connected by:

  • Selecting the outlet type (e.g. vending machine)
  • Entering the name and serial number
  • Defining machine configurations such as products, pricing, and locations, forming the basis of telemetry

For larger deployments, KUARIO supports automated HPT25 setup, making it easier to scale across an entire fleet.

One Device Instead of Several

In many environments, adding payment flexibility means installing multiple devices: one for closed-loop payments, such as student or staff ID cards; another for open-loop payments, such as cards and mobile wallets; and a separate unit for telemetry. Each adds installation time and complexity, and introduces additional points of failure.

With the KUARIO HybridPay Terminal (HPT25), payments, user identification, and telemetry are combined into a single device. This reduces both the physical footprint and optimises the installation process. Operators can accept all major cashless payment methods, and when user identification is supported, privileges can be applied. Pricing and discounts are easily managed centrally and applied automatically based on user group, location, or machine.

Combined with real-time transaction insight at the machine level, this leads to clearer reporting, simplified operations, and a more consistent customer experience. Settlement is consolidated, so contracts, reports, and payouts are streamlined.

All of this is managed through the KUARIO Management Dashboard, allowing updates and adjustments to be made easily across vending fleets.

A Simpler Way to Upgrade

Upgrading your payment terminal is no longer a complex or disruptive undertaking.

Most machines already support it. Installation takes just minutes, and with a single device handling payments and identification, complexity remains low. One terminal. One platform. One payout.
